A few things to share

Took several pictures in my booth at Merchant Square yesterday and I would like to share them with you.

I found a couple of books on ideas for having tea with friends.  The tea cups are from my personal collection.  There is also a vintage canister with roses on it that could be used to store tea.    The candlesticks are silvered glass and just beautiful!  And, of course, everyone needs to wear pearls to tea!  I also have gloves in my booth -- and hats!

This is a pic of another cannister with roses on it.  Love these tall, etched apothecary style storage jars.

Remember Big Little Books?  Well, I don't, but they are really nice books.  Note the two old prescription bottles with handwritten labels.  I have several stick pins for sales as well.

I have never seen leather baby shoes with zippers!  This is before Velcro!!

More girlie items.  The little round tray has genuine French lace between glass in it.  The silver baby spoon and pusher are typical English items used to feed baby.  There are a pair of tiny salt and pepper shakes with enameled tops on the tray.

Updating in my booth and adding new things

On Monday I spent the morning putting new items in my booth at Merchant Square since I had pretty much neglected it for almost two weeks.  Way too long to let it go!  So here are some of the things I added on Monday.

I have acquired several years worth of Mary Englebreit's Home Companion magazine and am selling them off individually.  In this metal basket there are two years of magazines.  Have also acquired these great little cases.  I don't think the black one is vintage, but the other two are.

I am trying to sell this hutch and think it would look better with less on it, but I had so many pretty pink things that I had to put them in the cupboard.  The ruffled netting was probably used around a vanity table at one time.  Got some darling pink potholders there on the second shelf.  On the bottom shelf is a lovely ribbon embroidered pillow, pink gloves, a pink sheer robe for a doll and a nice vintage pink hat.

Here's my wire dress form dolled up with an "everyday" apron and two other prettier aprons for party wear on each side.  I just marked down the price of the dress form today.

This is a really nice camisole that is probably from the early 1900's.  Amazingly good shape and no spots.  I did have to sew on a new button at the bottom.  But otherwise it is in good shape.

Hard to see but there is a pretty white umbrella with a ruffled edge.  This really pretty child's white dress is in pretty good shape considering its age.  Under the dress are a pair of soft leather baby shoes.

I love this English teapot that I found with it's original cover.  It's felt lined and am sure it would keep tea hot inside.  Just too cute!

Lastly are these darling ivory satin shoes.  I think they are a size 7 -- too small for me.  But they are just too stinkin' cute!!  Note the nice sheet gloves with a ruffled edge to match.  Oh so girlie!!

Jeanne d'Arc song

I am a fan of the magazine Jeanne d'Arc Living.  Imagine my surprise while thumbing through a 1930 song book, The Music Hour Fifth Book, I found this song!

So I scanned it and saved it.  Decided to share it with you -- especially if you are a Jeanne d'Arc fan!  Who knew??!!

Here's a few items that I added recently to my booth.  The white birdcage, the lovely table cloth, white birds, and you really should check out my wood folding chairs.  They are a light gray and just perfect for a patio or your favorite shabby chic place.  There are two of them in the booth.

Have also added this great child's wicker chair!  Too cute!  It sits on top of a pressed back chair that is an old one.  If you are into using the new Annie Sloan paints, this would look great painted!!  Also note the perfectly rusty child's watering can on the rustic shelf.  The rustic shelf is for sale as well, now.

My lovely lady is wearing one of the great hats I found in Payson last week along with a triple strand of pink pearls!

I have this great light blue vintage bread box for someone's kitchen!  It has plenty of storage room inside and a shelf, too!  On top is a vintage GE electric clock that works!!  I love the look of the dart board!  It comes with darts but you have to get them from the front desk when you buy it.

And don't forget to get a silent auction number at the front desk and bid on some of the lovely items in the display in the lobby!

Some new items added to my booth.

Spent several hours today working in my booth to add new items and redo some displays.  Here are some of the things I have added today.

I found this darling hen with chicks last week along with the small two-drawer chest she sits on.  The two black boxes on the left are really nice cigar boxes.  Great to add your own artwork to the lids and inside.

Here's the little angel I shared with you last week along with a nice storage trunk I found.

I was so tempted to keep the Paris subway banner, but I don't really have any place here at home to put it.  But it is nice!

Here are two gorgeous cigar boxes.  The one on top unlatches from the side and two pieces of the lid open up.  Great graphics!  Nice storage box!  The one underneath still has the cigar trays inside.  They would make it easy to store necklaces.  Check out the pictures of the inside of these boxes on my Judy B's Shabby Chic Facebook page here.  Click on the first picture then continue clicking on the pics to see all of the photos I added today.

This is a wonderful blue gray 6-drawer metal cabinet.  Great for storage or plants!

This is one of the better vintage children's watercolor sets I have seen.  It was made in England and has great graphics.  No dents but some scuffing on the lid.  Check the inside!

Most of these colors have not been used!!  The original brush, however, has no bristles.  You would have to buy a new watercolor brush.  But what summer fun!!  Underneath this paintbox in the aqua tote is a small book on painting with watercolors, a bundle of three small paintbrushes perfect for watercolors, and two packages of watercolor paper. The watercolor paper is substantial enough to be painted on one side and addressed and stamped like a postcard on the other.  Share the summer fun with family or friends!!!

Lampshade project

I always have lamps in my booth at Merchant Square.  They seem to sell well.  Lately I have been constructing burlap shades for the lamps.  The one I am going to share today I think is particularly cute!  A bunch of ideas came together and the result is a little lamp with a cute shade.

My good friend, Joy, told me about this burlap ribbon she found at Ruffler's Roost in Chandler.  Ruffler's Roost is a great place to look for ribbon in all colors and sizes.  They also have a lot of pretty flowers made from ribbon.  So I bought a roll of this burlap ribbon, put it in the sewing machine and proceeded to pleat/ruffle some of it.

At Melrose Vintage last week I found two small clip-on lampshades that were perfect for two small lamps I also found there.  Melrose Vintage was having a warehouse sale and these were great finds -- among many other items!!

So, I covered the shade with a piece of burlap from my stash.  Then I glued the ruffled burlap ribbon on the top and bottom edges of the little lampshade.  I think this little lamp turned out great!  It will be in my booth at Merchant Square next week.

Merchant Square 3-day sale this weekend

Merchant Square is having a 3-day sale this weekend and a flea market tomorrow, Saturday.  I have loaded my booth and taken some pictures to share.

Inside my locked china cabinet I have lots of antique and very vintage items.  Here you see fancy perfume bottles, a gold lipstick holder, lovely rhinestone jewelry, rhinestone topped antique hat pins, lacy French gloves and an antique dresser tray in the back.

On this shelf are vintage necklaces, bracelets, a tray with French lace under glass, MOP binoculars made in France, old eyeglasses, and a beaded purse.

On these shelves you can see two turn-of-the-century boxes with celluloid pictures on their lids.  One is a glove box the other is for jewelry.  The insides of the boxes are in near perfect condition considering their age.  You can also see two autograph books (one on top of the old jewelry box and the other is open in front) that were signed in the 1880's.  Beautiful handwriting and lovely sentiments inside each one.

And I have stocked my booth with plenty of frames (white, black and original finish) and mirrors.

The mirror on top of the china cabinet is very old and very heavy!  Would look good with on its side or placed vertically on the floor.  It is really big!

Fluffed my booth today.

Part of the center display area in my booth at Merchant Square sold yesterday.  So I had to get up there today to redo it and take some new items in as well.  Check out my displays.

This is the new display in the center of my booth.  A lot of vintage items plus a few newer ones.

This great Eiffel Tower has crystals all over it.  It really sparkles in the light!

 Got the peacock feathers bundled for sale and tidied up the top of this cute green desk (which is one of the pieces of furniture I think sold today). 

This is actually a large, wood carryall made by hand.  I filled it with burlap ribbon, a wood basket and a wood tray.  Love the rustic appeal of it.  That carryall would make a great garden piece!

Old box, twig chair, rusty bed spring, shoe brush and an old book.  

Love this little display shelf.  It holds a lot!

This is my rustic display.  I think it turned out pretty good!  Love all the wood boxes and trays.  They are so great as display pieces.  Be sure to visit my Facebook page, Judy B.'s Shabby Chic for more pictures.

After Christmas redo of my booth at Merchant Square

A couple of pieces of furniture sold last week and I didn't have any in stock in the garage.  So I had to go shopping in Merchant Square for some good buys -- which I found!  Then I redid my booth and most of the displays.

Have switched from Christmas to birds.  I have a couple of bird cages in my booth now.  This pink chair is a child's chair in great condition and just darling for a girl's room.  Love that hatbox!

This is the dress form that is for sale.  I have dressed her in one of my slip dresses and added a fur collar.  Next to her is a great shabby easel that holds an old print, several old buckets and a blue sap bucket.  Lot of other goodies to see here as well!

This great piece I found this morning and bought from another dealer.  It is a really nice display piece.  Loaded it up with lots of old flower frogs, rubber stamps, another bird cage on a cake plate and a dress form.

I Love that old La Mode print.  It is an actual page from an old magazine.  In this huge bowl is an assortment of rubber stamps, sponge stamps and some Maya Road items.  For you scrappers, this is a good deal because the prices are very right on those stamps!

Have a few cowgirl items here.  Red straw hat, white boots, bandana napkins, old toy horses, old horse show ribbons, and a couple of old suitcases.

I also put out several new hats.  This one is a vintage Easter hat.  She's wearing old pearls.  Vintage pink gloves and a die cut that is framed.

Come on over to Merchant Square and visit!  New dealers are moving in now and many others are redoing their booths for the New Year!  

Merchant Square 3-Day Sale begins today!

Just a glimpse inside the mall to temp you into coming in and looking around!

When you enter the mall, this is the lovely display you see on your left!  Always love silver and white this time of year!!

Today's playing around

Took a few of the items I have been creating up to my booth at Merchant Square today.  Check it out.

Please don't let the size of these mannequins fool you.  They are both tiny and all the clothes are pinned behind them in order to make them look better.  There's my newly recovered bench as well!

These two necklaces are made from vintage lamp crystals and an old pocket watch.  Several other necklaces are on the glass between the two display forms.  Hard to see.

Here's the torso mannequin that I purchased from Karen Lackey of Starshine Salon.  I love the jewelry draped on it.  Wonderful display piece!
