Spring giveaway

I noticed that my blog has had over 25,000 visits.  It's time to have a give away to celebrate all of you, my readers and visitors, and say "thank you"!!

Here is what I am giving away.  It is a personal notebook or journal, 4" wide by almost 8" high.  I decorated this ready-made notebook as a shop display piece for Mystic Paper a couple of years ago.  Just recently found it while trying to clean out my garage last week.  I then decided it would be a good piece for a giveaway.
All you have to do is leave a comment on this April 6th blog.  On Monday, April 12th (by noon), I will pick a winner's name by random number generator and post it on my blog.  Then as soon as I get your mailing information, I will put the notebook/journal in the mail to you!

Please tell your blogger friends about my giveaway on your blog, too!  And if you haven't signed up as a follower, now would be a good time to do it.

Lots of good things are going to come from my garage clean out!  Stay tuned!!

One World One Heart Giveaway

UPDATE -- Comments are now closed at 226.  See Feb. 15th blog for more information.  This has been a lot of fun!

One World One Heart was created by Lisa Swifka in 2007. It was created to bring bloggers together from all over the world. I discovered it last year and was disappointed that I hadn't participated. This year I am VERY EXCITED about participating for the first time and getting to know other bloggers all over the world!! You can read all about it here or by clicking on the link on the right side of my blog.

I have two of my creations for the giveaway. First is a rustic Valentine made from vintage fabric and paper. Second is another more "traditional" Valentine made from papers, lace, felt, and a vintage piece of jewelry.
The drawing will be held on February 15th. Winners will be chosen by random number generator. All you have to do is leave a comment.

Please be sure that I have a way to contact you either by
email or blog link if you win!!
Thanks for stopping by to visit!
I know this will be fun!!

Queen's corsets cards

Here are two corset cards fit for a queen! One in pink and one in black. I created these for those of you who love Marie Antoinette! I hope to get these on the class schedule at Mystic Paper soon.
I love this black one with the aqua insert. Too pretty! The Marie tags are in a pocket that fits inside the corset. You could tuck a note or pictures to your mom for Mother's Day or to a friend who is crazy about Marie Antoinette in these cards.
Here is one in pink! Love the German scrap roses on this one! Also it is trimmed with tiny pearls. Love the Marie Antoinette tags that fit in the pocket and tuck inside the corset.
I will let you know when I get these scheduled. They are quick to do and lots of fun! So stay tuned for more information on these.

Don't forget!!!! Tomorrow I draw the name of the winner of the give-away shown in my March 23rd blog. Be sure to leave a comment on that blog (not this one -- scroll down to see it) if you want your name to be included in the drawing. I'll be posting the winner shortly after noon tomorrow, Sunday!

Recent finds

On Tuesday, I was invited to visit a friend's house to rummage through her stash of stuff. Her name is Sharon, and she is a dealer at Merchant Square. I buy from her booth/store at Merchant's all the time and every time we run into each other (at estate sales and flea markets!) we catch up on the latest. Sharon specializes in fabrics, trims, vintage clothing, jewelry, and lots of other stuff. Her booth at Merchant's is like a small vintage store stuffed with delightful things! Her stash is "to die for!" Sharon has found old hat pins (without the beads) for me to create new hat pins with my bead collection. She has also found lots of vintage rayon seam binding for me in a variety of colors. Sharon is an angel!! Well, on Tuesday I found this wonderful porcelain lady sewn to a pin cushion. She can't sit up by herself so I have plopped her into a vintage "orphan" cup I have. What do you think?? I love her and she is a keeper, for the time being!
Another dealer at Merchant's had these half heads in his booth. Mike has tons of stuff for sale at Merchant's but is downsizing to one booth as was making deals. I love these half heads! I bought three of them. The one on the left was a present to me from Mike! I love that guy! Ever since I saw that Stampington was going to publish a book about Marie Antoinette, I have been looking for these heads. They cost me a small fortune because they are vintage and one is German made. But I love them!!

DON'T FORGET!! Leave a comment on my March 23rd post to have your name put in the hat for the give-away!

Pretty March Give-Away

It is time to do another give-away. And here it is:

There are two lovely vintage hankies, one is white with white embroidery and the other is white with pink flower embroidery. Both are clean and in excellent condition -- as in never used. There are three pretty pink roses and a nice strand of small pearls to embellish your art work. Also included is the lovely cutout of a little girl in a bridal veil. She is holding a tiny gold mirror. There are also a couple of hearts on a tiny corsage of roses with two tiny rings and a few pearls. The paper doily is not included -- it is for photography purposes. All discovered in my stash as I was looking for things to use in a project.

If you would like a chance to win this March Give-Away all you have to do is leave a comment on this March 23rd blog only. You have until Sunday, March 29, to leave a comment. I will then have someone draw the names of the people who left comments and announce the winner. I mail promptly upon receiving your address so you can have the give-away right away!

Valentine Give-Away

After my first give-away in December, I thought it would be great to do it again! So here is my next give-away. I will send out this Valentine to you in time for Valentine's Day in two weeks. Again, all you have to do is leave a comment on this February 2nd blog, and on Sunday, February 8th (by noon), I will have my son pick a winner's name out of the hat. Then on Monday, February 9 I will put your Valentine in the mail to you! So leave a comment! Be sure to check back with me by Monday, Feb. 9! Get in on the drawing!Been reading a blog and experimenting with the camera and learned how to do close-ups! This is a close up of the Valentine. Now you can see the fabric with the silver thread design, the pink silk heart and the sequins and beads on the earring/decoration on the heart. Did me good to read the blog about getting better pictures.
Last week I took a walk outdoors and I spotted this hot air balloon floating very near my home! I am actually thinking that it would be fun to take a hot air balloon ride. Hmm! Next stimulus check may just may take me up in the air so high!!

Bingo Card Swap book is finished

I asked myself last September, after the Bingo Card Swap, just what was I going to do with all of the great bingo cards I got!? It occurred to me to put them in a book so everyone could enjoy it who comes to visit. Here is the finished book. Got this done this weekend. The theme was "When I Grow Up." The book itself is pretty good sized -- approximately 10"x8". I used a page from an old photo album for the cover. It was the right size. One of the bingo cards in the swap was nearly as large as the cover -- see the last pages below.

There were 16 of us who participated in the swap. We each did 16 cards to trade. I did two different styles. These two are mine.

I took bristol board, glued dress pattern paper to each side then stamped on the page with Antique Linen after it was dry.
Then I set about mounting the cards to each page. I used photo mounts to mount each card so that it could be removed to look at it more closely. At the bottom of each page I wrote the artist's name.
I also added background papers to compliment most of the cards. Then I did more stamping and some freehand doodles to add interest.

I think the results turned out well!

These are the last two pages. You can see why I had to make the pages at least 10"x8". The last bingo card was pretty good sized.

****HERE'S ANOTHER GIVE AWAY!!! *****

If you got this far reading today's blog, keep going. . . . .
If you would like this bingo card I made (last one I have), be the first person TODAY (December 28 only!) to leave me a comment! That's all you have to do!! I will contact you to get a mailing address and put it in the mail to you tomorrow, Monday, December 29.
