Vintage photo albums redone

I have had these two vintage photo albums for a long time.  Neither was in very good condition.  The pages are empty (no photos) and were falling out of the albums.  I thought some mixed media artist would buy them out of my booth, but they didn't.  They aren't very big either which makes them perfect for altering or using the inside pages in other artwork.  So I decided to decorate them up.

Since I was cleaning up my kitchen so the house cleaners can clean (yeh, I know!  Clean before the cleaners!) and the arrangements were already on the albums, just not attached, I decided to finish them.
Here's the first one.  I glued bits of old lace and a piece of cheesecloth to the cover.  I added some nice velvet leaf sprays (new) and then attached these wonderful yellow velvet vintage corsages.  I like the yellow roses with the blue cover on the album.  Lastly I attached ribbon and lace bows and topped them with an old blue stone earring.

The second album is also in shabby shape.  Here it is with it's new "cover".
This one has two vintage flower corsages actually pinned to that piece of burlap you see.  I then threaded the rayon ribbon through the corsages and tied it on the side.  This little album has no backing to it's spine.  No photos are in it either, but the pages are not in great shape.

I have to say that my iPad takes great pictures.  These close ups are pretty amazing, if you ask me.  You can visit my Facebook page and see other photos I took today of vintage frames with lovely wedding photos in them from the 1930's.

Reclaiming Style -- Sweet Salvage in February

Yesterday my BFF Gail and I went to another fabulous Sweet Salvage event.  The theme this month is Reclaiming Style.  Here are my favorites!
There were several of this large cloches with this great bottom.  Loved the clocks, coral, beach glass, urchin shell and the frozen Charlotte.
This delightful display was in an old cupboard with no glass.  I loved the cute child's cupboard, the dolls and the doll clothes hung on the mirror in the back.
Silver, glass and glitter!!!
Another great cloche filled with a ceramic glove hand, the shell box, the topiary, and the chippy table.
This is my very favorite!  The burlap, lace and rick rack wrapping those old books.  And then there is the flower made out of tissue paper!
Roses!!!
Look at this fabulous cloche!!!  Love everything inside of it!!
I love these old boxes stacked as display shelving.
This vintage dress is beautiful and the jacket is awesome.  The Sweet Team now has a new member who brought in lots of jewelry and beautiful clothing.
Look at the great jewelry.  New, old and hand made!  See the old paintbrush on the shelf to the left?  It is a display piece for stick pins!  How clever!!
Darling dress -- even more darling little crocheted jacket!
This dress form was way above my head, but you can definitely see the beautiful shawl that is wrapped around her!  Awesome!

It was a great event and Gail and I had a ball!!!  Please check out my FaceBook page here to see the picture albums I have posted there to see even more great items and displays!

Making a change -- Junk Gypsy style

I have had this dress form in my bedroom for some time now.  She is usually dressed as you see here.
Three pretty white skirts, a vintage apron, lace collar, jewelry, scarves, vintage rose corsage and a crown.
Here's the dress I found at the Merchant Square flea market last weekend.  I called it a Junk Gypsy prom dress.  White lace with plenty of swish to the handkerchief skirt.
Here she is with the same lace collar, vintage jewelry, a concho belt and crown.
Here's a close up of her jewelry and the vintage lace collar.
Or, should I exchange the crown for my own cowgirl hat and the gray scarf?

I think she needs something else.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for visiting my blog today!

New items in my booth for the sale this weekend at Merchant Square

I added a lot of things to my booth yesterday in order to get ready for the 3-day sale this weekend.  Here are some of my favorites.  You can see an album of 26 pictures I took on my Judy B's Shabby Chic Facebook page.
This turquoise silk dress is just beautiful.  Never worn and still has the original tags by Maggy London.  A nice retro style chemise.  To the right of it are two more lovely formals.  Time for prom yet?
Four great vintage lamp shades.  They are shabby and the fabric is fragile.  But these would be great to strip and them create your own shades with old lace pieces, burlap, whatever!
This beautiful light pink sweater is so soft!  It's lambswool and angora decorated with pearls and sequins.  Never worn and has original tags from Bonwit Teller.
Lovely old plates decorated with roses and very inexpensive!  Love the tiny chintz teapot!  The ruby glass sugar and creamer set are perfect for Valentine's Day or Christmas!
Love the items on top of the white china cabinet.  Really nice swing frame from the 1920's -- deco style!
For my artsy friends, a huge bowl full of vintage buttons, flower picks, rustic clothespins and corks.  Check out the pile of old keys for necklaces or mixed media projects.

Great sale at Merchant Square this weekend!!  Plus a huge flea market in the parking lot.  All spaces are sold out.  See you there!!!
