My friend, Gail, and I also visited several other wonderful places last Thursday after we went to the Sweet Salvage event.

I know I have been AWOL

But I have good reasons.  I won't go into it, but just know that I am on the mend.

In the meantime, I have started thinking about Valentine's Day already.  Actually, it's not that far off, is it??  So for just a quick post, I am sharing a few vintage Valentine images with you.

 This was an old Valentine.  I love that it says "With Love" in the center and has the cute die cut bird.  Thinking this is hand made.

 Print this one out and add your own sentiment.  I think this is lovely!

 I love violets and think that this is so pretty!  Again, print it out and add your own embellishments and sentiment.

Today's happenings

Today I put a few more items in my booth at Merchant Square. I had an inquiry about where Merchant Square is located so I added a picture (on the left) of their business card as well as a link to their web site. The web site is still a "work in progress," but at least you can get address and phone number information. This weekend, January 30 to February 1 there will be a mall wide sale. On Saturday morning, beginning at 7 a.m., there is a parking lot flea market. Good stuff there!! If you live in the Phoenix area, Merchant Square is located one block south of Warner on Arizona Avenue.

After I left Merchant Square I headed over to Ruffler's Roost's new store in Chandler. They have opened a second store and I couldn't be happier!! There are ribbons and trims galore! Every color, type and size you could want! I have visited their Mesa store a few times, but it is really FAR away for me. This one on Ray Road is much closer.

Look what I found at Rustler's Roost today! Beautiful Valentine ribbons and trims! Can't wait to use these! Don't you love the ribbons with roses on them?!Found today at Merchant Square were these two bags of notions. I love the red and white seam binding in the bag on the left. And the blue and white trim next to it. I bought the thread bag so I could put two small spools on top of this cute little sewing cabinet I found at a yard sale. It will be for sale in Merchant Square by the end of the week.This little cabinet is vintage and made in Japan. I thought it was too cute! I need a tomato pin cushion for it, but haven't found one. Guess I really don't need it.This red box was a find at a thrift store. I decided to make it a Valentine display box. I made the pretty Valentine for the lid and then filled it with my Valentine tags and vintage and antique Valentine-themed postcards.This is a close up of the little Valentine on the lid. The lid actually had some logo on it and I wanted to cover it up.

Valentine tags

Been working today on a bunch of Valentine tags to take to Merchant Square this week. We are having another big three day sale there this weekend and I want to get these tags up there for the sale.

The papers for the above four tags are from the Basic Grey paper pad "Eva." Loved the colors and the smaller print on the paper. Regular 12"x12" paper print is sometimes too big for a tag.

The background paper for this tag is "Hope" by Melissa Francis. Love this paper! All the images here are from an image sheet that can be purchased from Mystic Paper. They have individual sheets with lots of vintage photos.

Also have printed out some images from Instant Memories "Love" book. This book has ready-to-use scrapbook pages and a CD from which you can download the individual photos and ephemera. Tomorrow I will be working on more vintage Valentines using the images from "Love".

Look what I found yesterday!

These were tucked in a box in the cabinet here in my den. I was looking for a place to put all the extra cords and mouse from the new computer. I spied a box and in that box were dozens of cut outs and these were among them. I had totally forgotten about the box and the cut outs!And these are just a few of the cut outs I found in the box. A long time ago I found (at an estate sale) a big plastic box full of images cut out of vintage greeting cards -- a big box! Someone had spent hours and hours carefully cutting out the pictures from the cards! It took me a long time to sort through them all and pick out the ones I wanted to keep. This is just a sample of the Valentine's I found. I have sandwich bags full of flowers, roses, Valentines, etc.It pays to go through the cupboards, boxes and shelves in my house! I need to do that more often!! I had totally forgotten about these cut outs!

After I saw Dede Warren's post of January 16th I was enchanted with the vintage Valentine's she is using in a Vintage Valentine's fat book! I even checked out all the links she posted to see what the others were doing for their fat books. I am so wanting to participate in a swap like that! That may even be a goal for me this year -- to participate in a swap like that. Got to figure out how to find one!

BTW! I figured out how to get to the scanner from the desktop and not the scanner itself! Told you I wasn't going to let this new computer and Windows Vista get me! No way!!
