The Wicked Faire at Sweet Salvage this month

The fall and Halloween decorations at Sweet Salvage's Wicked Faire were awesome.  I am sharing my favorites here with you today.
My BFF Gail and I had to take a few minutes to ham it up or glam it up for a picture in the fancy witch hats.

Ran into my FB friend, Ken Oliver, there.  Always glad to meet FB friends in person!!  This has happened several times to me while at a Sweet Salvage event.
Really liked this display.  Love the way the pumpkin is decorated, love the black roses, and love the shabby candelabra with the black candles.
Pretty display of fall items.  Those trays would be useful in the upcoming holidays!  That copper pumpkin with the white polka dots is too cute!
Love the way this Halloween Queen pumpkin is decorated!  Looks regal!
I asked this lady to hold up her pumpkin so I could take a pic of it.  I love it!  She was in love with it too!
Another really nice display for fall.  Haven't seen those digger pine cones since we lived in California.  Love that white pumpkin, too.  Everything in this photo is really pretty!
Last is this box with all the little cubby holes in it.  Gail's favorite was the little bird, top row middle.  My favorites were the bird houses.  Just a cute idea!

More pictures of the Wicked Faire can be seen on my FB page, here.  Check them out!

We had a great time at the Wicked Faire!!  Looking forward to next month:  French Market!!!!  Oh, la, la!!!

More Christmas displays in the house

Time to change over from Thanksgiving and fall and get into the Christmas spirit.  I don't put up a tree anymore since my husband passed away 7 years ago.  But I do like to put up small trees in displays around the house.  Here are the first two I finished yesterday.

I replaced the red southwest runner for this old seed bag.  The glittery tree and the little cloche on the silver stand I bought yesterday at FOUND in Mesa, AZ.  This store has wonderful things for decorating and they were having a sale this weekend.  So I took advantage!

These candles are battery operated.  Love their nice glow in the evening.  I also put out two of my clear crystal rosaries around on the mirror.

And finally this display I put together yesterday as well.

The little white tree was a great find at My Sister's Attic.  Had to tuck the branches up a bit so it would fit under the tall cloche, but it works!  Now I think I need a few glittery stars to decorate the tree.  Yes, that's just craft stuffing around the base of the tree.  The bottle on the right is an empty Patron bottle decorated with pearls.  The other bottle has a wonderful "Dream" collar with a rhinestone crown -- also a find at FOUND.

September Alphabet Party

Once a month Etsy Cottage Style does an Alphabet Party.  This month participants are to post pictures and descriptions of vintage items they have beginning with the letters P, Q and R.  I had a lot of fun going through the house looking for vintage pieces.  Here are the ones I selected for the Alphabet Party.
Ironstone PITCHERS

old PEWTER PITCHER
The old pewter pitcher and cream and sugar set belong to my grandmother.

vintage PURSES
The purse on the left is a shabby Whiting Davis.  The black one is old and studded with jewels.

coffee and tea POTS
The pink one is a Droll Designs pot I bought over 20 years ago.  The blue enamel biggin coffee pot above was found in Virginia.
vintage PETTICOATS
Remember these??  I had to wear several in order to get my skirts full enough.  I laugh at that now!

vintage ROSARIES

more vintage ROSARIES
For some reason this rosary collection just grew.  Guess it's because they don't take up much room!

Old wicker child's ROCKER
This old wicker rocker was my dad's.  He was born in 1910 (to 1994), so I can date this at being about 100 years old.  I love this little rocker.  The doll is one of about 40 I made back in the early 1990's.  I sold all but three, which I still have.  Perhaps I will feature the dolls in a post in a few days.

I skipped Q you say?!  I don't have anything vintage that begins with Q other than old cutter quilts.  Q is tough!  And here they are.
vintage cutter QUILTS

I use these in my art work. Believe me, they have been well used and well loved before I use them again in a piece of art work.

If you visit the Etsy Cottage Style blog post for the Alphabet Party, be sure to visit all the other wonderful blogs who have their vintage items posted.  Easy to do!!!

Know what drives me crazy?

Putting something down somewhere in this house and then spending a lot of time looking for it just a few minutes later!  That was yesterday!  It was a small tag for a new journal I am doing as well as the embroidery needle to add a few french knots to it.  I finally found the tag on the floor in the closet where I was looking for the needle.  Haven't found the needle yet!  Not good!!

Today I looked all over for a silver bracelet I know is here.  I just cleaned it.  Do you think I can find it??  It will show up, but not right now. I quit looking so I could do a few blogs.  It'll turn up!

Today I want to share with you some things I love that don't drive me crazy -- in my house as well as in a favorite store.

One of my favorite places to visit in Virginia is the Old Lucketts Store in Lucketts, Virginia, a small burg several miles north of Leesburg on Hwy. 15 (a treacherous piece of road, I might add!).  I get emails when they are going to open their Design House.  They are having a big Open House this weekend.

I just want to sit down and read!  Also featured was this:

I love turquoise jewelry.  I have some, but I discovered I have more silver bracelets than those with turquoise.
I also recently saw a picture of Mary Emmerling with a lot of Indian bracelets on both arms as well as a silver dish full of them.  So, in keeping with the picture I saw, I dug out my only silver tray, polished it and added my silver Indian jewelry.  I spent a few minutes looking through the magazines for that picture.  Now, please refer to paragraph 2 above!

I love these santos.  It took me over a year to acquire the two I have.  Finding them is not easy.  And when you do, they are not cheap.  But, yesterday I found an ad in the latest issue of Somerset Home for Santos Dolls Angels Busts Art here.  Well, where were they when I began looking for these 2+ years ago?
These are my santos draped in rosaries (which I collect) and jewelry.  The angel on the top is in the great room.  The santo just above is in my bedroom.  I made her pointy hat!  Just the right touch!

Last is my entryway niche.  It used to hold a huge flower arrangement which I never liked -- but the decorator did.  Now it is to my liking.
Thanks for visiting.  Hope you enjoyed the pics of the Design House at the Old Lucketts Store as well as a peek into my my house for a look at some of my favorite things.
