Small canvas collages

I had these two small canvases left over from an unfinished project. They were originally painted. So, I used crackle paint over the canvas, and then antiqued it with vintage photo ink. You should recognize the Silversmith's Daughter (6"x6"). I had done this little piece a year or more ago with a corrugated board frame. The turquoise is a string of bits for making jewelry. I mounted the picture on a coffee dyed piece of fabric, then all of that on another piece of corrugated board. I finally glued it to the canvas. Love the doo-dads! It looks like bits her father might have used to make jewelry for her.
This is a little child that I mounted onto the small canvas (4"x4"). I love the colorful bead trim. It might have been a piece off of her costume.

I just have to add some eye screws and beaded wire to hang these two small framed pieces. Just another way to use the techniques learned from KC Willis Collage Camp. And I am using up things from my stash!

Little Lady

This is a project I worked on this last weekend. It is hot outdoors and when it is, you stay in and do other things. This was my "other thing." I got the idea from the Paper Whimsy website under the "Inspire" tab. They have a lot of cute projects featured there as well as lots of goodies to purchase. The flower at the bottom is from Paper Whimsy.

Anyway, this is actually a 6"x6" canvas. You do the project on the back of the canvas. The first one I tried, I didn't have much luck with the crackle paint. But, this time I painted the wood with black and then applied gobs of the crackle paint. It took a while to dry. Then I used alcohol ink diluted with blending solution to tone down the color of the paint. Worked great!
