What was this used for??

I found this cute chick in a box of old sewing notions. It isn't very big. About 3" across and almost 2" high. It is crocheted with pink yarn. The multi-colored comb is crocheted with multi-colored crochet thread. A pink sequin eye with a white bead center completes the eye. He is looking back towards his tail.I have no idea what this was created for. The gal I bought it from didn't have any suggestions either.See? The bottom is open and it would maybe fit over the top of a medicine bottle. But is that what is was used for?? It is too small to cover an egg -- maybe a Cadbury egg (yum!).

Do you have any ideas?? Let me know! Leave a comment.

My M-I-L made a few of these for my kids. You slip them over plastic easter eggs. They are just a little decoration to put in their basket.

Thanks, Chia! But it would have to be a small, plastic egg. I suspected something like that, but just wasn't sure! Thanks!!

I think it's a pot lid cover, so you don't burn yourself. Easter decor or counry

Judy, The ones my kids had would have fit on a real egg. Is your's smaller than that?

Yes, Chia, it is tiny. A regular egg would not fit inside the chicken. I think Anne's comment might be closer to the target. Thanks, Anne for the comment!
