Back to work today

I got up this morning and decided that today I would stay home and get back to my art work. I have been really inspired by two layouts in the most recent issue of Somerset Studio and made up my mind to prep backgrounds and get busy on the layouts on each project. I wanted to experiment with the different background techniques using acrylic paints.
I found the 4"x4" square canvases yesterday at an art supply store. Today I prepped them according to the instructions given by Kristen Robinson in the article "Nature's Bounty." So far, so good. I am not finished, but I am happy with the results so far. It just takes time because each layer has to dry before the next layer can be added.
Here I have prepped pieces of canvas paper with acrylic paints. This will be an altered book that has the feel of a cloth book. I am not real happy with the stamping on these sheets, but that can be covered up or altered in some other way. I loved the book by Connie Govea Stuart in Somerset Studio called "Pocket Binder of Art & Earth." I plan to fill my book with pieces of vintage fabric -- I love big cabbage roses -- flowers, plant sticks, and other ephemera I have collected. I will be working all day on these two projects.

Predicted high temp today 112 degrees. Just as well stay inside where it is cool!! Whew! That's hot!
