Working on submission pieces

I have been working on pieces for submissions for publication. Been hard at work all weekend on a quilted wall hanging to submit to Stampington for their upcoming publication Sew Somerset. I have put two designs up for you to see. However, I will not tell you which one I decided to persue. It may even be a combination of the two. I don't believe Stampington wants art work to be "published" before they get to look at it. Thus, the two designs.

But I will tell you that the fabric for the background was a gift from a friend. The yo-yo quilt pieces were from another friend who is contantly cleaning out her "third bedroom". The buttons are a combination of new and vintage as are the lace and tatted pieces. I love the little girl image which I purchased on eBay. She is just too cute and I have named her Elizabeth.

I hope to get another quilted piece in the works this week from a second purchased image off of eBay. There is a wealth of images on eBay. Just take a look! Search for ACEO, AAMM, ZNE, ATC and Art Squared on eBay and you will get dozens of ideas and special items to bid on or "buy it now".

Also tried my hand at monoprinting today using the new walnut ink colors from Tsukineko. The colors are more pastel and really pretty. They come in Willow, Cornflower, Lilac and Cherry. Makes a pretty combination. However, these inks are too transparent to successfully do monoprints. My next try will be with acrylic paints. Monoprints are great for using as backgrounds on ATC's, masterboards or collages. However, I do have some beautiful paper towels that were soaked with the inks. Keep watch on Mystic Paper website for an upcoming class on monoprinting.
