Weekend sales finds

I have to say, that most of the sales I went to this weekend were full of clothes, baby clothes, baby items, children's toys, and tools!  None of which I am interested in.  Got so I drove by a lot of sales and only stopped at a few.  Was able to get to a couple estate sales as well and did better there.

Here are some of my finds this weekend:
This wonderful bath talc container called "Bath Talc and Kisses from Mary Quant".  How vintage and pretty!  Still holds talc.  What surprised me is that it shakes from the bottom!  Remember Mary Quant??  She's the fashion designer who created the mini skirt and hot pants that were so popular in the 1960's!!  Twiggy modeled her clothes in the 60's!  Mary's still alive and still designing clothes!  The paper flower was a gift from a friend.  Love the shabby rhinestone dress clip and the bitsy perfume bottle.

I found these two orphan children's shoes at an estate sale.  Couldn't leave them there even though they are not pairs.  But they make great display pieces and even pin cushions when decorated.  The blue shoe is too cute!
Also found this pair of children's buckaroo boots.  Still thinking about keeping them and put them in a display until I decide to change the display.
Last, but not least, is a 1946 Audubon Bird Guide and a pair of "opera" glasses that fold up in their red case and would fit in your pocket.  I did like these!

Those are my finds.  Weren't many, but I like them!

Etsy Cottage Colors Party for April

I am a member of Etsy Cottage Style and each month they have various blog parties or market days.  This month is the Etsy Collage Colors Party for April and the color is PINK!  So, I set off around the house to take pictures of my pink displays.  I don't have a lot, but here is what I do have:
Just recently redid the mess on top of a shelf unit in my art space.  I much prefer this!  I walnut ink dyed the cotton crochet thread on the left and added vintage hat pins.  Next is a huge spool of pink-tan thread, a big roll of pink lace, bright pink crochet thread with vintage earrings, a sugar bowl with no lid that has a bouquet of pink flowers in it.  The old paint brushes added height.
My wonderful dress form with her pink scarf and lovely, full vintage pink cabbage rose corsage.  Just redid this wall in my bedroom a couple of weeks ago.  See the blog post below.
I have two of these lovely pink roses plates in my bedroom.
The plates are on the wall on either side of this great roses print.
Another vintage pink rose corsage held by the lovely white hands dish.
In my bathroom resides the only Christie Repasy print I own!  I bought this years ago at Lucketts General Store in Lucketts, Virginia.  I love this print!

Hope you enjoyed my PINK Etsy Cottage Colors Party pictures.  Please click here to go to the Etsy Cottage Colors Party blog page and take a look at the other participants.  I can guarantee you won't be disappointed in what you find!!

Enjoy the rest of your day!  It's going to be warm and breezy here in the Phoenix area.  Another perfect day!

Rearranging things in the house

LOVE IT!!  My friend, Joy, came over today to help me redo the shelves in my great room and then to put up the big three cowgirls picture in the back of my kitchen.
The cowgirls now sit on top of my Hoosier cabinet.  Am going to clean up the shelves and get this area in less cluttered order.  It's a mess of my art stuff!  Ick!

Then we moved onto my bedroom.  I bought the shabby coat rack with the intention of putting it on the wall in my bedroom and hanging up vintage clothing.  Here it is!
I am so happy with this!  A new look for the bedroom!
I've been buying vintage whole slips, petticoats and vintage blouses as I find them.
The pretty hat came out of my bathroom.  It is very old and all the netting and the flower are hand stitched to the hat.  Love the beige square dance petticoat!
There is an old prairie skirt (actually an old petticoat) behind the pink slip.  The camisold top is in front of another vintage slip.
This darling white ruffled evening bag with pink lining contains an old dance card with tiny pencil (it came with the bag tucked inside).  It's dated Friday, May 24, 1940.  It's older than me!!

I love all the changes!  Thanks bunches, Joy!!!

Sweet!

Bought these at the store two days ago.  Love the daffodils and the ranunculus!

Nothing fancy, just lots of them for my dining table.

P.S. Had to look up how to spell ranunculus!  Knew it didn't look right!  And I had to try several different spellings before I found the right one!  Toughie!

My grandson carrying on a family tradition!

My husband was a weatherman/forecaster for the Air Force for a number of years before he got into the spook stuff and satellites.  My DIL sent this picture of Ryan, my grandson, who was role playing as a weatherman at his preschool.  They had just finished up a weather unit in class and the kids each got to play the part of a weather forecaster and newsman.  Here's little Ryan!
You gotta love the moustache!  His Grandpa Dave would be proud!!

Bon Voyage Workshop

Carol and her family did a wonderful job with the Bon Voyage workshop on Saturday!  I had a great time!  My book isn't finished, but I will get it done shortly.  Will be sharing pages with you as I go along.  But for now, here are some pics of what all of us found when we met a Carol's house for the workshop.
Each one of us had our place settings at the tables set up inside for the workshop.  There was a packet of papers, paper for the book, a black tin carry all full of bits and bobs and wonderful things, a packet of fabrics, a small paper bag full of small bits to use in decorating our pages, and that cute mini clipboard decorated with a flower, tickets and our name!

We were inside instead of outdoors since the weather turned hot on us.  However, it wasn't so bad because Carol's back yard is full of plants, a fish pond and lots of trees.  Really nice to be able to eat outdoors!
Here's Carol explaining directions and showing her Bon Voyage travel book.
The first thing we did was have breakfast!  Two very tasty casserole dishes, coffee cake, scones, and plenty of coffee or tea.  Note the great decorations on the table!  Loved the pink rinucculas on the table and the tiny ferns in the numbered buckets.
The other half of the table decorations.
Lunch!!  Five cheese macaroni, pork roast, chicken cordon bleu, deviled eggs, Greek salad, Caesar salad and bread.  We did work on our travel books between these delicious meals!!!  Honestly!!!
Here's the group for a picture toward the end of the workshop day.  There was also a great dessert table for us towards the end of the day.  Pudding, fresh fruit with real whipped cream, and fat chocolate chip cookies.  The pond in front of the group had beautiful fish in it swimming around.  Lovely day!  Lovely workshop ladies!  And a great workshop!

Thanks Carol!  Thanks Ashley -- you're a great cook!  Loved every bite!!  Thanks Vern for sharing your home, telling me all about your huge fish tank and the fish that occupy it, and for taking pictures!!
