Necklaces

I love the necklaces I see in the jewelry making books.* How fun to make necklaces or bracelets out of old or new charms. Not something I am going to do instead of altered books and art, but something I would like to do when great charms and pieces show up in during fabulous hunt for "stuff." Just for fun!

Here are three necklaces I made recently. They are displayed on a torso form I picked up at Rust & Roses in Phoenix. If you live here and haven't visited Rust & Roses, you must! I have dolled up the torso with a lace top as well as a vintage corset. Must say that wearing that corset must have been sheer torture! It has stays that are stiff and must have been really uncomfortable. This necklace I put together with an old necklace and added a soldered china charm I made in a class with Josie Cirricione.
A necklace made with an old key and new heart and chain.
Last one is made from vintage chain, a new key, old locket, and a bit I put together with a Scrabble piece, watch gear and tiny vintage baby picture.
Just for fun! I am going to put this entire display in my booth at Merchant Square after the New Year's weekend. Stop by and visit my booth, C-6 at Merchant's.

These books are full of ideas, techniques, and lovely jewelry:
*A Charming Exchange by Kelly Snelling & Ruth Rae
*Rejuvenated Jewels by Amy Hanna
*Vintage Redux Remake Classic and Collectible Jewelry by Brenda Schweder
