However, as with a lot of older linens, it had spots on it. So I washed it this morning. The spots did lighten up, but they are still there. So I decided to use my "red neck clothes dryer" and let it dry in the sun. My mother used to tell me that the sun will bleach out some spots. Here's hoping!Do you have any advice for taking spots out of old linens?? What do you do??
After it dries, I will iron it and take it to Merchant Square to sell in my booth. I have a good selection of aprons in my booth -- from hostess or party aprons to everyday work aprons. Several in red and several in organza. One has hankies that were sewn on for pockets! Cute!

I read where you can put lemon juice on the spots before putting it in the sun. Worked for me. May have to do it several times. joy
jjjoysmith is correct. I've used lemon juice as well (grandmother used to do it), and it does work.
I am happy to report that the spots that were in the sun did disappear! But next time I will use some lemon juice, as suggested!! Thanks, girls!!!

I just ordered some stuff that is supposed to be a miracle cure for old linen stains. I ordered this via blog hopping . I had it sent to Pinetop and I will not be back there for awhile but will definitely let you know if I think it is as worthy as represented. It was recommended by someone who deals in old linens. I also have been told about the lemon juice to use as a bleach. Darling Apron, by the way.
i just received some OLD vintage aprons that belonged to my grandmother, some look like they had never been worn... we should get on a campain to BRING APRONS BACK! *smile* have a great day judy...
Aprons are baaaaaaaaaack....(cheesey smile). Somerset Magazine came out with a special issue called "Apronology" and the sewing section at Border's/Barnes and Noble has books on all kinds of aprons. I'm so brutal with mine that I can't use pretty ones but I'll be in Chandler today and I'm going by your booth!
-Oh and in my family, any stain had a date with the washboard and "jabon amarillo" a big, Mexican, yellow bar of soap. Still have a washboard around here somewhere and the soap is pink now.
