National Zoo visit

It was a beautiful day, Saturday. We all piled into the van and rode down to DC to visit the National Zoo. These lovely pink trees were near the entrance. Lots of trees are in bloom right now and the drive down to DC was wonderful. Spring and fall are the most beautiful times of the year here in the DC Metro area. Here is an orangutan at the zoo. He and a partner were crossing above the zoo on these huge towers. There were eight of these towers. (The middle six were electified below the platforms so the orangs didn't get the idea they could climb down and run off.) They were going from one pavillion to another. Probably to get some breakfast. It is amazing how they can hang onto those ropes and just walk or swing along. I was impressed!
Here is a close up of the biggest orang. He was pretty shaggy and his fur looked like dred locks.

We all had a great time that day. Today it is rainy. Oh well! Tomorrow I return to Phoenix and to 100 degree weather. Did you hear that big sigh??

You may want to rethink coming home...I'm certainly not ready for the heat, but it's here!

This poor creature needs a make over! He or she looks like sweat from the Phoenix heat has been part of it's life for a very long time instead of the D.C. weather. Although, I guess rain would do that to one's hair as well.
I agree with Kim, you might want to rethink returning home for another week.

I am SO NOT looking forward to returning to 100 tomorrow and high 90's the rest of the week. Makes me want to cry!!

But, I have to come back. Bills are due, have a house to look after, check on my son. I told Rob to turn on the AC and keep the house cool. Hope he did that!

I am set to return to VA again at the end of May. But then the weather here will we hot, hazy and humid. I think that is worse! You are never completely dry! LOL!

Judy, Wish the forecast for your return could be better. It's weeks like this I wish I were in CT! It'll be good to have you home, tho. The weather here hasn't been too bad until it hit 97 today and I was out in it all day. Not too bad until you return to the 200 degree car! lol Can't wait for us to start 'the camp' with KC. CeCe, you'd better reconsider. It doesn't HAVE to be 'western'. Have a safe trip home, Judy.
