Yesterday's Altered Scrap Book class

Everybody had a great time yesterday in class -- including me!! What a great group of ladies! I told them I didn't want to see a book that looked just like mine leaving the class. They all did their own thing after I demonstrated what to look for when buying a book for altering, how to reinforce the spine and binding to the cover, and tear out pages. Then I turned them loose on the scrap boxes and demo-ed how to cover the books with paper and fabric. After that, away they went! They brought their own papers, they used my papers, they traded papers! Paper was torn, cut, reshaped and tipped into the pages of their books. Glue sticks were flying, ideas were racing around the room! Fabric pieces were used to decorate pages, lace trim was added...
Tags were colored with Distress Inks, covered with papers, dolled up with ribbons...
Papers were selected to match the color of the book cover...

Pages were folded to make pockets, inked to look vintage...
Tags were inserted, fancy folds were executed, more pockets...

Some pages were very delicate and transparent using mesh and transparencies...
Here's the same little girl but with red and blue, velvet ribbon, lace...

Lovely cards were tucked in, vintage bouquets, pieces of toile and bright colors.
The gals did a wonderful job on their individual books and all went home committed to finish their books. The excitement was high! I loved it!!!
Thanks to Freddie, Joan, Debbie, Tracie, Violet, Ellie and Tiffany for making the class so special! Hugs to all of you!
